First Day of VBS!

Student Entry by Austin Hart:

Today most people woke up to an interesting yet intolerable ringtone from Ryan's cell. It was a very early, fast and fortunately smooth morning, I took a refreshing shower then gathered my stuff together to prepare for the day. Not knowing what to expect, but figured I would get the hang of it eventually. After everyone went to their places and we started to get ready for the VBS. I absolutely love the kids! they were so much fun and can't wait to spend the rest of the week with them, my friends, my church, and the helpers I met. Such as: Emily, Rachael, Luke, Nick, Ashley, and Leah. I helped tutoring the kids in the morning with Megan for the 3 & 4 graders, (mostly in math) and megan later commented on my patience with most of them (Haha, I was surprised by that). We went to the nearest school for lunch... which brought back memories of how much i actually missed the elementary school food, then afterwards was the reccess for the kids... which was fun. we then headed back to the church to start VBS. We started with some music, then leading to our skit for the day (which went great by the way!). after that the kids split up to go to the stations like bible app., crafts, snacks, and games... which is what I helped with, along with Matt, Ryan, and Shane. Again I loved spending time with the kids, especially the group I tutored in the morning (such awesome kids). To wrap up the day we went to the 1st free church to help with a block party (which lasted several hours, but was very much fun). a key point of the block party were the two bands playing. one being Forgotten Freedom. Whooo!!
At the end of the day everyone just chilled... did devotions, etc.. It was one very exciting day and can't wait for the next one! :D

Austin covered the day well!! Everyone is tired and we are getting ready to call it a night. (If you didn't already guess these posts post 3 hours earlier than we are actually starting them.) The students at both locations worked very hard today and we are getting the swing of our new routine for the week. Thanks for the prayers and keep them coming. The forecast is rain for the rest of the week but as Austin mentioned the block party tonight was the only important night for no rain and it was perfect weather! I have included a few pictures with the old posts as well. Hope you all are doing well back home in IL! Pastor Bill
